In the words of REFERERS...
"I have seen the mother progress from being depressed, isolated and overwhelmed to being cheerful and positive."
“The transformation in this lady is incredible. Paula was suffering from very low self-esteem and depression when I first referred her to Home-Start. Since this time Paula has been encouraged to participate in Sure-Start groups and activities and has been accompanied to them by her volunteer. Paula is now happy, confident and able to attend groups and meet individuals without support."
“The Family appears to have enjoyed and benefited from the confidence building course provided by Home-Start."
“It has been a very positive experience and has enabled the family to get out and about which has enhanced the mothers health and satisfaction."
“The volunteer has been very helpful to the family, accompanying her to various appointments, playing with the child and geberally being supportive to the mum."
“Thank you for providing such a consistent level of support."

Parents said
Home-Start believes that parents play the key role in ensuring children have a happy and secure childhood, but even the most dedicated parents can face challenges that prevent them doing all they want for their children. This is why Home-Start supports parents to give their children the best 'start' in life - at Home.
Through our partnerships with various agencies in the city, grants and donations from trusts, and foundations and national grant giving bodies we are able to offer a range of support to families which focuses on their needs. This may be one to one home-visiting, group work, or parenting courses.
In the words of PARENTS...
“Home-Start has been such a big support to me in lots of ways, especially meeting 2 new and very special friends, Lorraine and Jo, without the both of them sometimes I don't how I would have managed. I would like to say a very big thank you to the both of them and how much I appreciate everything they have done for me”

“The support I received was key to me managing my situation and Cath was absolutely fantastic at listening and making helpful comments when needed. She made all the difference in the world to me and will definitely have a lasting positive effect.”

“Without my volunteer I'd have had no outside help with my children whilst I was postnatally depressed. She has become a wonderful friend and myself and the children love her to bits.”

“My volunteer was just so easy to get on with, just being able to talk to an understanding person outside the family was good - something I really needed.”

“My volunteer provided me with an extra pair of hands, was an objective listener with great ideas and a friend my own age.”

“I just hope you all realise what a difference you make.”
